The Student Health Centre is located off the foyer area at the back of the hall.
A school nurse is available from 8.30am - 3pm Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.
Helen McDougall has been our school doctor for many years. She visits school every Tuesday morning.
See the student office, or our nurse if you'd like an appointment with Dr McDougall.
Judith Graham and Titihuia Rewita are the school counsellors. Both are trained teachers as well as having Masters degrees in counselling. Both have worked as counsellors for many years, in the community and in school. Ms Graham is at school every day, and Whaea Titihuia is here Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
This year we also have Molly Florence working with us as a counselling student. Molly is at school on Thursdays and Fridays.
When you come to counselling you get to talk with someone who is not directly involved in your life. Talking through your problems helps you understand them better. With the counsellor you work out ways to help make things better. You may come on your own or with a friend. If the problem is between a group of friends, then you may all need to come together to help sort things out. Sometimes you might choose to invite family or whanau to come and talk.
What you talk with the counsellors and health professionals about is confidential. Confidentiality is like a huge umbrella. It covers just about everything you talk about. To keep people safe the counsellors and health professionals do sometimes need to talk to each other, so imagine us holding the umbrella handle together. The only times we ever talk to anyone else is when we are seriously worried about yours or another persons safety, and then we always try and talk with you about this first.
