On behalf of the entire Year 1 team, we are delighted to welcome you and your child to what promises to be an exciting, inspiring, and foundational year of school. Led by Jo Jefferis, who brings 30 years of teaching and leadership experience to our year group, our dedicated team of educators is committed to giving your child the very best start to their primary journey.

Throughout this year, our team will maintain a strong balance of rigorous, structured academic progress in reading, writing, and mathematics alongside rich hands-on exploration and social-emotional growth. Drawing on our collective expertise in early education, our goal is to cultivate confident, curious, and independent learners who feel genuinely excited every time they walk through our doors. Across all Year 1 classrooms, we deliver learning through enriching, creative, and collaborative activities designed to challenge and support every child at their individual stage of development.

To foster a strong partnership between home and school, you will have complete access to our lesson coverage as well as purposeful extension activities to stretch your child's learning beyond the classroom. Across our team, our core educational philosophy remains steadfast: a child must feel secure, valued, and happy to truly thrive. Creating a warm, inclusive, and supportive atmosphere across the entire year group is our highest priority.
