Welcome to Year 1. My name is Mr Smith, and I am delighted to be your child’s class teacher this academic year. With over 12 years of teaching experience across EYFS and Primary in the UK and internationally, I am looking forward to working with your children as they begin this exciting stage of their learning journey at Malvern College Egypt.

Year 1 is an important year of transition, where children build on their foundations from Reception and begin to take greater ownership of their learning. Our classroom will be a positive and purposeful environment where children are encouraged to be curious, resilient and independent, while developing the confidence to ask questions, take risks and learn from mistakes.

Through our carefully planned schemes of learning, children will develop strong foundations in reading, writing and mathematics while exploring science, humanities, art and the wider curriculum. We will provide practical and creative opportunities for children to make connections and apply their learning.
