Hello, I’m Toby Clapton and I’m really pleased to be the Head of Year 7 at Malvern College Egypt.
Starting secondary school is a big step and I want every student in Year 7 to feel that they belong, feel supported and enjoy coming to school. There will naturally be challenges along the way, but that is part of growing up and becoming more confident and independent.
We have high expectations of our Year 7 students. We expect them to work hard, be kind, take responsibility for their choices and get involved in school life. Just as importantly, we want to recognise the positives. Whether that is excellent effort in lessons, improved attendance, helping another student, representing Malvern or simply making the right choices every day, we want those things to be noticed and celebrated.
Year 7 should also be fun. There will be plenty of opportunities throughout the year to get involved in sport, House events, CCAs, trips, competitions and other activities outside the classroom. I really want students to try new things and make the most of everything Malvern has to offer.
I work closely with our Form Tutors, teachers and pastoral team and we will make sure students have someone to turn to if they need help. Communication with parents is really important to me as well. If something is worrying you, or there is something happening that we need to know about, please get in touch, via email, rather than waiting.
My aim is quite simple. I want our students to finish Year 7 happy, confident, more independent and proud of what they have achieved. I’m really looking forward to getting to know our students and families throughout the year.
