Welcome to the Lower Sixth at Malvern College! My name is Andrew Nolan, and as Head of Sixth Form, it is my privilege to welcome you to the start of the final, most transformative chapter of your Secondary education. This Scheme of Learning site serves as a central hub for students and parents to track academic milestones and access essential learning resources throughout the year. The Lower Sixth is a pivotal time where students bridge the gap between GCSEs and higher education, develop independent critical thinking, and take true ownership of their academic trajectory. Alongside our dedicated team, my primary mission is to ensure every student feels empowered, challenged, and fully supported as they make this transition.
Academic growth, pastoral wellbeing, and future planning are seamlessly integrated at this level. We provide a robust framework of pastoral support to help students balance academic rigor with holistic care, supported by a 1-to-1 mentoring program where experienced tutors guide students in building resilience, effective study habits, and leadership skills. Simultaneously, our comprehensive higher education support begins early in the Lower Sixth - guiding students through global university entry requirements, profile building, and career exploration to prepare them for competitive applications. Whether navigating subject choices or day-to-day guidance, we work closely with students, parents, and tutors to help every individual achieve their full potential. Please contact me, via email, If you have any questions.
