Hello and welcome to the Year 1 Schemes of Learning, where you will find a clear overview of what your child will be studying across this academic year. My name is Jo Jefferis, and with 30 years of teaching and leadership experience, I am absolutely delighted to lead your child's class through this foundational school year.

Throughout the year, we will maintain a strong balance of rigorous, structured academic progress in reading, writing, and mathematics alongside rich hands-on exploration and social-emotional development. Drawing on my decades in education, my aim is to cultivate confident, curious, and independent learners who feel genuinely inspired every time they walk through our classroom door. We deliver learning through enriching, creative, and collaborative activities designed to challenge every student at their own level.

To support our partnership between home and school, you will have complete access to our lesson coverage, as well as purposeful extension activities to stretch your child's learning beyond the classroom. Over my 30 years in the classroom, my core educational philosophy has remained unchanged: a child must feel secure, valued, and happy to truly thrive. Fostering a warm, supportive atmosphere will always be my primary priority.
