Appeal Process

Harrison Public School District is eager to answer questions and resolve issues at a level closest to the student. Please address your concerns first with your child’s teacher, then direct them to a building principal or to a district administrator, and if you still have a problem needing resolution, please contact the Superintendent. Only then, if still unresolved, you may put it in writing to and address the local board of education. You will get a response in writing. Finally, if there is a complaint or dispute, you may take it to the NJDOE Commissioner of Education, as per the directions here:

“If you have been unable to resolve issues by navigating the four local levels, there are several ways to bring issues to the attention of the Department of Education. Every county has an office with personnel who can help resolve issues if you have exhausted all avenues in the district. The directory of county offices and be found at https://www.nj.gov/education/about/counties/.

A complete listing of matters that may be brought to the department can be found at: https://www.state.nj.us/education/legal/lawandpolicy/
