Like Collection Mapping, you will need to provide StackMap with a floor plan image file that will be used for Explore to map out subjects and places.
The floor plan image file used for Explore should match the dimensions of your Collection Mapping floor plan image file. This will ensure that corresponding ranges will align on both floor plan images for Explore and Collection Mapping.
We recommend that your floor plan images be .png files and to ensure the longest side of the graphic doesn’t exceed 1200 px.
The floor plan image file used for Explore can be the same as the one used for Collection Mapping. Unlike Collection Mapping, the floor plan image file used for Explore may include the addition of graphic depictions. These graphic depictions can help guide your patrons to find specific places or spaces in your library. See the example "EXPLORE FLOOR PLAN IMAGE" highlighted in blue below where graphic depictions have been added compared to the example "COLLECTION MAPPING FLOOR PLAN IMAGE" where graphic depictions are not visible on the floor plan image.
As we begin the setup for your Explore module, you will need to compile and provide StackMap with a list of subjects. Subjects are assigned by you to the ranges that were mapped for your collections.
The subjects you choose can help separate and organize your collections. Based on the subjects you assign, the subject label is what patrons will see when a range is selected. See the example spreadsheet below where "SUBJECT LABELS" and "SHELF RANGES" have been added. The subject labels (highlighted in blue) have been assigned to their corresponding shelf ranges (highlighted in purple) on the example spreadsheet. The assigned ranges correspond with the example "ANNOTATED FLOOR PLAN IMAGE".
As you assign subjects to ranges you will also need to provide StackMap with an annotated floor plan image so the subject labels you create can be assigned to the correct ranges. The annotated floor plan image and corresponding annotations will not be visible to patrons and are only used for the purposes of setting up Explore.
If you already have an annotated map with a range numbering system in place, then please refer to it when providing us with annotated floor plan images for Explore. If not, email support@stackmap.com and our team will be happy to assist you with how to annotate and number your ranges. See the example "ANNOTATED FLOOR PLAN IMAGE" highlighted in red on how to annotate the ranges on your floor plan image.
As we begin the setup for your Explore module, you will need to collect and provide StackMap with a list of places. Places are areas or spaces within your library that patrons can view.
The place labels assigned to the areas on your floor plan image can be viewed by patrons when selected. See the example spreadsheet below where "PLACE CODES" and "PLACE LABELS" have been added. The place codes (highlighted in blue) have been assigned to their corresponding place labels (highlighted in purple) on the example spreadsheet. The assigned place codes correspond with the example "ANNOTATED FLOOR PLAN IMAGE".
As you assign place labels to areas on your floor plan image you will need to provide StackMap with an annotated floor plan image to show where those areas are. Similar to the annotations created for subject data, the annotated floor plan image will not be visible to patrons and are only used for the purposes of set-up. See the "ANNOTATED FLOOR PLAN IMAGE" highlighted in red for an example floor plan image with place codes in the areas where place labels will be visible.
