What I want most for people to know regarding Early Childhood Mental Health is to understand that wellness is not just "one more thing", it is the thing. Our mental wellbeing is just as important as our physical well being. It takes more than simply saying, "mental health is so important right now…". It is time to take action.
I earned a Masters in Education from Ursuline College, with an emphasis in Special Education. For my undergraduate degree, I attended John Carroll University and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Humanities. I am a licensed Intervention Specialist (mild-moderate), and hold a Reading Endorsement. I spent all of my classroom years working with children who had significant cognitive disabilities. The majority of my experience is in the field of Autism. In 2022, I joined the team at Crossroads Health specifically for the ECMHC to SST project. In that time I have become a Qualified Mental Health Specialist.
I am very much a believer in that every step you take leads you to where you are supposed to be. I believe that many aspects from my personal life have given me a unique perspective when it comes to mental health consultation. Additionally, my professional journey has provided me with invaluable experiences that contribute to this role. Working as a special education teacher with children with significant cognitive disabilities and who often came to me with traumatic backgrounds helped me to see and understand what children will do when their needs are not being met.
I appreciate the time you have taken to explore this site. It shows that you value the social- emotional wellbeing of yourself and others.!
