Doors of Hope Geauga is a nonprofit created by three Geauga County residents with a shared passion for serving those experiencing housing insecurity in their community. The goal of the organization is to provide families facing homelessness in Geauga County with temporary shelter and supportive services to address each family’s barriers to stable housing and assist them in attaining long-term independence.
Doors of Hope Geauga believes that shelter is a basic need of every human being and that good housing conditions are essential not only for one’s physical well-being, but for one’s mental health as well. To that end, the agency offers families shelter that is secure, clean and provides space for families to grow in all aspects of family life.
Doors of Hope Geauga provides more than a roof and four walls. It works in partnership with each family to understand their individual journey and develop a roadmap out of homelessness and into independence.
Critical to this effort is:
assessment of each family to identify services and benefits needed;
assistance with housing search, employment and/or education;
educational enrichment for children;
linkage with community partners.
In addition to services delivered by its case managers, Doors of Hope Geauga utilizes its strong connections to local community resources, networking with existing providers to assist families in transitioning to self-sufficient living.
