Purpose: The presentation seeks to reintroduce staff to Project X and to the theme for this year - TIME. It explores one perspective of some time related concepts including history, music, movement, media, time travel and science fiction.
Concept: The concept of time is familiar but not well explored. A minute is a small unit of measurement
This Project X experience was aimed at experiencing one of the most familiar terms and units of measurement of time - a minute.
Common expressions are built on an understanding and familiarity of this term:
Just a minute; It'll only take a minute; Do you have a minute; Wait a minute; etc
But what "can" we do in a minute?
Purpose: There is a link between the inquiry process and the design cycle. These two elements are explicitly connected and are developed over the SSIS K-12 learning experience.
Concept: Spending time - being "in time", 'out of time" and having "time out". Being "in the moment".
Participants rotated through three activities to experience different concepts related to time.
Dance and Music Activities: Moving "in time" with the music. Being "in time" with partners.
Drumming Circle: Being "in time" with other players. Being "out of time" but in rhythm.
Mindfulness: Taking "time out" and considering time as a currency - spending time, saving time, etc.
