Early Childhood Screening
An Early Childhood Screening is required for entrance into Minnesota public schools. The screening is a free and simple check of how children are doing between the ages of 3 to 5 years old. It identifies, at an early stage, possible developmental concerns so that children can get necessary support prior to starting kindergarten. The screening will provide parents a better understanding of their child's development through checking each child's height, weight, hearing, vision, motor skills, and speech development.
What does an Early Childhood screening include?
Vision and Hearing check
Growth Evaluation
Developmental screening using a Minnesota state approved standardized tool
Social Emotional screener tool
Information and resources for your child
The screening offers a snapshot of your child's health and development. It may indicate the need for further health or developmental assessments. This allows time for early intervention before the start of Kindergarten.
