What's New in Assistive Technology! Read & Write is now district-wide!
All students who currently use Co:Writer and Snap&Read on Chromebooks will need to transition to using Read&Write at the start of the 2025-26 school year. By December 2025, all students using the Co:Writer and Snap&Read iOS apps will need to use the Read&Write iOS app. Read&Write has incorporated the features of Co:Writer and Snap&Read into its existing toolbar.
Students who were previous Co:Writer and Snap&Read users have been added to the new Read&Write license through their school Gmail accounts. If you have students who already receive SSD services move to a new partner district, students who have never used Co:Writer and Snap&Read, or new students who have recently qualified for SSD services, please contact your assigned Assistive Technology Facilitator to add them to the license.
Read&Write is a robust tool with features to support the areas of reading, writing, research, and study skills. Some of these features include text to speech, word prediction, text and picture dictionaries, highlighting, speech to text, and vocabulary lists. Install the Read&Write Google Chrome extension to your students' Chromebooks or laptops and the Read&Write iOS app to your students' iPads.
SSD provides a district wide license of Read&Write for all staff members and all students who receive SSD services. As an IEP team, you may add this AT tool to SSD and/or partner district devices without an AT consultation. Staff members are eligible to sign up for a free Read&Write educator account HERE.
