Hello wonderful Year 2! Welcome back to school...and to Term 4! Can you believe it? We're almost at the end of the year! We're SOOOOOOOO proud of you!
All the activities we would like you to complete today are below. Try and finish them all - we want to be getting our brains ready to come back to school soon!
Spend some time at the beginning of the day in God's Word! Here is our Bible verse of the week:
"The one who has spoken these things says: "I am coming soon!" So, Lord Jesus, please come soon!"
Revelation 22:20
Go to Seesaw and move your star โญ๏ธ for morning roll call.
Remember to upload one piece of work to Seesaw.
Complete the activities from your Connect books for this week's lesson. Think carefully about Jesus' parable: you can read it in your Bibles at Matthew 13:3-23
What is the earthly description of what happens to the seeds? What is the explanation Jesus gives?
Then complete the find-a-word and the definition of faith.
Listen (and sing along!) to this classic Colin Buchanan song 'The Ballad of Farmer Phil', which retells the parable Jesus told to the crowds.
Will you be the good soil? Will the word grow in you?
Print this sheet, find it in your booklet or use your own paper for writing phonograms, spelling words and sentences.
Follow Mr Charleston and practice your sounds for Week 3.
Write your 10 phonograms. Use a lead pencil before checking them at the end with a coloured pencil.
A clue for the mystery word will be provided today - the number of letters AND where the sound appears in the word...will this help you narrow it down?
Follow Mrs Carter as she shares our Spelling words for the week. Remember you can pause the video if you need to.
Say the words, make them on your fingers, then write them on your Spelling sheet in your work booklets. Use a lead pencil before checking them at the end with a coloured pencil.
๐ก Watch and listen to the information text about "Homes Then and Now. "
๐ Play it again and read along together.
Can you see how our homes have changed?
Homes in the past were very different to what we have today, particularly in the kitchen.
Think carefully about your kitchen at home, then answer the questions on the worksheet.
Persuasive writing is used to convince an audience about a topic.
You need an opinion and reasons.
๐ก Fish Are The Best Pets ๐
Which sentences are 'for' and which ones are 'against'?
๐ Glue the sentences in the boxes under the correct headings.
Complete the workshee on multiplication arrays.
Write two multiplication sentences for each array.
Complete the worksheet by going on a hunt and find different arrays around your home.
Draw the arrays and write the calculation to go with them.
Another space where things have changed from the past to the present is a room that every house has - the kitchen.
Watch some of this video - it's a long one, so its ok to skip bits :)
It's from 1948 and it describes what a futuristic kitchen should look like - how is this kitchen the same to yours? How is it different?
One of the ways things were different in kitchens in the past was the way food was prepared and stored.
Complete the worksheet by drawing detailed pictures in the empty boxes comparing food prep and storage items from the past and present.
Cut out the pictures and organise them into the correct columns.
Do these items belong in a modern kitchen (NOW) or in an old kitchen (THEN)?
