Spend some time at the beginning of the day in God's Word! Here is our Bible verse of the week:
"I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes!"
Romans 1:16
Let's get started Year 2!
Go to Seesaw and move your star ⭐️ for morning roll call.
Remember to upload one piece of work to Seesaw.
The word "gospel" means "good news."
As Christians, we have good news to share with the world about Jesus...but what is this good news?
Read Romans 1:1-17 in your Bible - what does this Bible passage say about what the gospel of Jesus is?
Write down/record in your own words what the good news of Jesus is - pretend you are telling someone who has never heard about Jesus before. What would you say to them to help them understand?
Watch this video as Mr Charleston shows and explains the phonics cards for the week - he will explain both the sounds and cues that go with each card that will appear in this week's phonics lessons.
Print this sheet, find it in your booklet or use your own paper for writing phonograms, spelling words and sentences.
Follow Mr Charleston and practice your sounds for Week 1.
Write your 10 phonograms. Use a lead pencil before checking them at the end with a coloured pencil.
There is a NEW mystery word for this week which will include one of our phonics sounds - will you be able to guess what it is?
Follow Mrs Carter as she shares our Spelling words for the week. Remember you can pause the video if you need to.
Say the words, make them on your fingers, then write them on your Spelling sheet in your work booklets. Use a lead pencil before checking them at the end with a coloured pencil.
Spend 15-20 minutes working through the reading and grammar activities on the Lexia programme.
Persuasive Writing - Point of View
You know the story of The 3 Little Pigs 🐷 but now you will hear the story from the wolf's POINT OF VIEW 🐺.
One story but 2 different points of view... Which version of the story is more convincing?
😃 The way we think or feel about a situation is our point of view. 🤔
Watch this clip to see and hear the story from the wolf's point of view. What you think...is the wolf innocent??
Do you believe the wolf?
Who is the "good guy" in this story? How do you know?
How is this different to the story of the 3 Pigs story we usually hear?
*Draw up this simple Y chart with the 3 sections OR

*Write a sentences in each space to explain your point of view - this is the way you think and feel about the situation. Write :

HISTORY is sooooo important - it tells us a story!
The story about what things were like in the past (back then) and how it has affected the present (NOW!).
This term, we will be learning about the difference between then and now.
Let's start by thinking about items we use in everyday life - find this sheet in your workbooks/print these out and sort the pictures into the correct column. Do we use these objects NOW (in the present) or did we use them THEN (in the past)?
Think about some of the things you do in your own life. How might they be different to how your grandparents lived their childhood?
Cut out the activity cards from your workbook/print them out from here. Decide which area of the Venn diagram they should be stuck.
If you think it is something you would do, stick it under
'My Childhood'.
If you think it is something your grandparents would do, stick it under 'Grandparent's Childhood'
If you think it is something both of you would do, stick it in the middle where the 2 circles overlap.
Not sure? Why not give your grandparents a call and ask them about what their childhood was like? It might help you!
