Imaginary Garden

May 4, 2020

Let's read a story with Ms. Castle! We'll have a visit to her growing garden -- then vroooom! Get out your toy cars and get inspired to dive paint into your own "finger-print garden", or try an imaginative collage. This project is suggested for kindergarten or first grade.

Cats by Laurel Burch

April 20, 2020

-Laurel Burch was a local American artist with a studio in Sausalito.

-She loved painting "fantastic felines" and animals filled with interesting patterns and bright colors.

-Why did she love to paint cats?

-She had a health condition, which prevented her from being as active as other children, and she found comfort in being home with her pet cats.

-Cats and animals became her painting inspiration.

-What inspires your art?

-The meaning of her work was largely to share nature's beauty, bringing together different cultures to talk about the communication with the Earth and all living creatures.
