About Me
Our library is designed to inspire a love of reading, build information skills, and help students become confident, independent learners. Throughout the school year, students will:
Explore a Variety of Books – Discover fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and multicultural literature.
Build Research Skills – Learn how to find information in books, online resources, and databases.
Practice Digital Citizenship – Understand how to use technology and the internet safely, respectfully, and responsibly.
Develop Library Skills – Learn how to locate books using the library catalog, care for materials, and navigate the library space.
Connect Reading to the Curriculum – Participate in read-alouds, discussions, and projects that support classroom learning.
The library is more than a place for books—it’s a hub for curiosity, creativity, and lifelong learning. Our goal is to help every student see themselves as a reader, researcher, and thinker.
How to Receive Extra Help
Families can play an important role in helping students strengthen their reading and library skills at home. Here are some simple ways to support learning:
Read Together Daily – Spend time reading aloud or side-by-side. Talk about the story, characters, and what might happen next.
Ask Questions – Encourage your child to explain what they’ve read, summarize a story, or share their favorite part.
Practice Library Skills – Have your child look up books using the library’s online catalog, find them on the shelves during visits, and check them out independently.
Explore a Variety of Texts – Mix fiction, nonfiction, magazines, and e-books to build a wide range of reading experiences.
Use Online Resources – Many school libraries offer e-books, audiobooks, and databases that can be accessed from home.
Encourage Curiosity – Let your child choose topics they love and help them find books or resources to explore those interests.
With consistent encouragement and opportunities to explore, students can grow into confident readers and skillful library users—both at school and at home.
