The P.A.L.M. Team is a dynamic group of educators who bring creativity, movement, and enrichment to every student’s school experience. P.A.L.M. stands for Physical Education with Coach Perez, Art with Ms. Gray, Library with Mrs. Murtagh, and Music with Mr. Harvey—four essential areas that help students grow beyond the core classroom subjects. Together, we inspire curiosity, self-expression, teamwork, and a lifelong love for learning through engaging, hands-on activities. Whether students are building skills in the gym, exploring their artistic side, discovering new books, or making music, the P.A.L.M. Team is here to nurture their talents and passions in a fun, supportive environment.
Our goal in Physical Education, Arts, Library, and Music is to create a safe, respectful, and engaging environment where every student can learn, participate, and shine. To make this happen, we ask all students to:
Be Respectful – Listen to your teacher and classmates, follow directions the first time, and take care of all materials and equipment.
Be Responsible – Come prepared, try your best, and make safe, smart choices.
Be Ready to Learn – Participate with a positive attitude, stay on task, and give your best effort in every activity.
Be Kind – Encourage others, use kind words, and include everyone.
Have Fun While Learning – Engage fully, explore your creativity, and enjoy each special class!
When we all follow these expectations, P.A.L.M. classes become exciting, welcoming spaces where every student can grow their skills, confidence, and creativity.
In P.A.L.M, students are graded on participation, effort, behavior, and skill growth. Our goal is to encourage learning, creativity, and good citizenship—not just performance.
Grades are based on the following:
Participation & Effort – Being actively involved, trying your best, and staying engaged in activities.
Behavior & Respect – Following class rules, listening to directions, showing respect to teachers, classmates, materials, and equipment.
Skill Development – Demonstrating growth in physical, artistic, musical, or literacy skills throughout the year.
Preparedness – Arriving ready for class with the proper mindset and materials (when applicable).
We believe every student can succeed in specials classes by showing a positive attitude, making an effort, and respecting the learning environment. Our grading reflects the whole learner—not just the final product—so that all students have the opportunity to shine.
Students are graded as follows:
4 = Excellent (E)
3 = Satisfactory (S)
2 = Needs Improvement (N)
1 = Unsatisfactory (U)
IMPORTANT!!! ***Students will not receive a grade from Library; only P.E, Art, and Music will be grading students***
