About Me
Hello! I'm Coach Perez, and I’m excited to begin my first year as the Physical Education teacher at Major Elementary School. I’ve spent the past 7 years teaching bilingual elementary students, and I’m looking forward to bringing that experience into the gym as I help students grow stronger, more confident, and healthier through movement and play.
I graduated from Sam Houston State University in 2018, and I’ve always been passionate about education, wellness, and creating positive learning environments. I’m eager to start this new chapter and support all of our students in reaching their physical and personal goals this year!
Class Schedule
What We Are Learning
Physical Education:
In this unit, students are learning how to stay safe in the gym by following rules and using equipment and personal space responsibly. They’ll be practicing different ways to move—like skipping, hopping, and running—at different speeds, levels, and directions. They'll also work on moving safely around others and cooperating during activities.
Health:
In health class, we’re focusing on important life skills like problem solving, making smart decisions, setting goals, and staying safe online. Students will learn how to make healthy choices and think through situations in a way that helps them grow both in and out of school.

1. Attend PE Class Events or Family Fitness Nights
Many schools host events where families can join in physical activities—great for bonding and learning fun ways to stay active together.
2. Communicate with the PE Teacher
Reach out with questions or concerns. Teachers can offer specific suggestions based on your child’s needs or interests.
3. Encourage Daily Physical Activity at Home
Even just 30–60 minutes a day of activity—playing outside, dancing, riding bikes, or going for walks—makes a big difference.
4. Use Online Resources
Websites like GoNoodle, Cosmic Kids Yoga, or Kids Health provide fun, free fitness and health videos that kids can follow along with at home.
5. Set Family Fitness Goals
Make it a game! Track steps, movement minutes, or new activities tried together each week.
6. Provide Proper Footwear and Clothing
Having safe, comfortable shoes and clothes helps students participate fully in PE and avoid injuries.
7. Visit Local Parks or Recreation Centers
Take advantage of free or low-cost community spaces where kids can run, climb, and explore.
8. Enroll in After-School Sports or Activities
Programs like soccer, dance, martial arts, or swimming help children stay active while building teamwork and confidence.
9. Model an Active Lifestyle
When parents move, kids move! Children are more likely to value physical activity when they see it’s part of their family’s routine.
10. Create a Screen-Time Balance
Limit non-educational screen time and replace it with movement breaks or active play.
