A Little About Me:
I am a born and raised Houstonian and have always had a creative/artistic mindset. I was never that kid who knew what she wanted to be when she grew up, but I knew that I wanted to enjoy my career. Funny story, I never saw myself becoming an educator, even though I come from a long line of teachers. Along with that, I've been in school so long that I wanted to stay as far away as I could after I graduated, but then I realized that I have a gift for the arts and a gift for children. I love encouraging and uplifting children, as well as being that extra support for a child. That's what made me decide to become a teacher. I can bring out their fun, creative sides even if they think that they don't have one. EVERY CHILD IS AN ARTIST, we just have to find it in THEIR way. I can't wait to work with everyone this semester to encourage the next generation of greatness!
We will be tackling the Elements of Art (Line, Shape, Form, Color, Texture, Value, Space) one project at a time. We go step-by-step working through each lesson. All art assignments/projects are designed in the best fit for the students to succeed and have fun making their own creations.
As a way to challenge and integrate technology with art, for our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders, I will introduce them to the world of digital art and graphic design. Along with the 7 elements of art, they will move from pencils to the computer and apply their own creativity to various design projects that combine each element of art with their own thinking.

These days, the internet can be your best ally. If your child wants to explore more about art techniques or terminology, YouTube is an excellent place to start. You’ll find countless “How-to-Draw” videos and art vocabulary songs—many of which I also use in class—that connect directly to our lessons and make learning both fun and educational.
You can join in, too! Watch the videos together, follow along with the drawing, sing the songs, and highlight important points as you go. These shared activities are a great way to deepen your child’s understanding while making art a fun, shared experience.
