Battalion Commander (BC)

The Battalion commander is responsible for what the battalion does or fails to do and setting the standards in the battalion. Directly supervises the Company Commanders in its entirety, the Executive Officer, and the Command Sergeant Major ensuring they are trained to perform their duties.  BC commands appropriate formations at events such as parades and ceremonies.

Executive Officer (XO)

The Executive Officer is responsible for supervising, directing, and coordinating the battalion staff to prevent overlapping efforts and to ensure that the commander's desires are understood and achieved. The XO keeps the staff informed of the commander's policies and the battalion commander informed of the status of projects assigned to the staff. The XO assumes command of the battalion in the absence of BC.

Command Sergeant Major (CSM) 

The Battalion CSM is responsible for advising the commander in all matters related to the cadets within the battalion. In addition, the CSM is responsible for coordinating battalion events such as parades and is responsible for assigning, training and equipping the event color guard. They are the highest-ranking NCO and are responsible for the other enlisted cadets within the battalion.

S-1 Personnel Officer 

The S-1 Officer is the administrative assistant to the battalion commander and is responsible for keeping track of all cadet personal information specifically regarding cadet awards, rank, promotion, and any positions an individual has earned within the battalion. This information is updated as a means of keeping track of each cadet’s records.

S-1 Personnel NCO 

The S-1 NCO is the assistance of the S-1 Officer. As the NCO, they assist the Officer with any work the S-1 Officers needs to be completed such as updating new cadets to JUMS. They also update the Staff duty positions in JUMS. Every time there is a promotion to a cadet, it needs to be approved by the SAI and the BC.

S-2 Security and Intelligent Officer 

The S-2 Officer in charge of keeping accountability inventory of the rifles as well as keeping them clean and functioning. S2 is also responsible for all JROTC fundraising activities which include which fundraising activities we do, tracking orders placed, budget and ensuring the accuracy of each cadet’s personal finance account. Lastly, the S-2 supplies every cadet with their respective nameplates.

S-3 Training and Operations Officer 

The S-3 Officer is responsible for all training, planning, and operations in the battalion. This includes making flyers and posters to be hung up, creating fundraising proposals, keeping updated reports on events the battalion participates in, and filing them into JUMS. The S-3 is also responsible for holding records for cadet challenges and will fill in the role of XO in their absence.

 S-4 Logistics Officer  

The S-4 officer is responsible for maintaining accountability of all battalion equipment.  The S4 assist the SAI/AI with logistics operations and responsible for maintaining the record keeping of all issue and turn in of U. S. government property.  Ensures the supply room is clean, neat, orderly and well stocked.  The S-4 is also responsible for issuing and receiving all clothes and equipment for each cadet (as well as maintaining record of clothing distributed to cadets. On occasion the S-4 officer will be asked to assist in or consolidate the purchase of equipment and clothing for use within the battalion.  Mentors company XO (if assigned) and assistant S4 on supply record keeping duties.

 S-4 Logistics NCO 

The S-4 NCO is mainly responsible for any duties or tasks that are assigned to the S-4 officer. This involves not only a range of jobs but also a spectrum of skills that must be sufficient in order to perform the assistance efficiently.

S-5 Public Affairs / Special Projects Officer  

The S-5 officer is responsible for taking pictures of and doing write-up documentations of any event involving the battalion. The S-5 officer is also responsible for all the battalion’s social media platforms and ensuring they are up to date, appropriate and provide necessary information to the battalion. They also keep the cadet and Army Chain of Command up to date. 

The Battalion's Staff consists of the highest-performing cadets in the battalion. Each cadet on staff is expected to set the highest standard for the battalion. Cadets have the opportunity after their first year to apply for a staff position. The new staff is announced at the end of the year award ceremony.
