The theme for this piece painted in term 2 was “Night”. I chose to depict myself as I know my own emotions, my own feelings and movements. The first figure in red is how I see myself during the day and the second figure in turquoise is how I see myself at night. At the time of creating this piece I felt that the darkness of the night changes people and how they interact with others and themselves. Some people feel that they only have a personality when the sun sets and that it’s the only time where they feel themselves. This is why the first figure’s eye is a plain yellow colour and the second figure’s eye depicts a cat eye which indicates the fierce personality that comes out at night. The background is similar to the loops of a fingerprint which implies that every person has a unique experience of the night time.
Kind regards,
Hannah Bowes
