Dear St Peter’s Community,
Welcome back to our final term of the year. There’s much to look forward to on the calendar, and I pray for a smooth and joyful finish to what has been a truly successful year at St Peter’s. I hope you share that feeling too.
This term we are trialling a new newsletter format. Stephanie in Administration, who publishes three editions each term, has gathered feedback throughout the year and believes this new approach will make information easier to access. A key feature will be the calendar, giving you timely notice of upcoming events to help you stay organised. We’d love your feedback on the new format once you’ve had a chance to explore it.
Please take note of the important 'Notices & Reminders' tab regarding student online safety. As mentioned last term, parents play a vital role in monitoring their child’s online activity at home. When students don’t use technology responsibly, it can affect their wellbeing and take away valuable learning time. Our school maintains strong digital practices and clear expectations; I ask once again for your support in reinforcing these at home.
I do hope everyone has taken the time to read the Operoo notice sent out last week, reminding parents and carers of the importance of keeping our children safe. The notice outlined safe practices for both morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up.
It is concerning that unsafe behaviours continue to occur, even in the presence of school leaders and teachers, clearly visible in bright yellow high-visibility vests, who are supervising your children’s arrival and departure each day. Fellow parents have also expressed concern about unsafe driving and pedestrian behaviour around the school.
Please remember, the safety of our children must come first.
A reminder that the Bellarine Gate will be locked at 8:50am. Late arrivals must enter via the Church Gate and report to the Administration Office.
A reminder too about our school uniform policy. Students should now be in full summer uniform, including the school hat. Wearing the correct uniform is not only an expectation in line with our secondary feeder schools, but also a sign of pride and respect in belonging to the St Peter’s community. It reflects the standards and values we uphold together as a school.
I would like to sincerely thank Kristina Cozzi for her wonderful contribution over the past two years in Student Diversity and Wellbeing in the Junior School. Kristina’s warmth, professionalism and care for every student have been deeply valued. We wish her and her husband Gianni every blessing as they prepare for the arrival of their baby in the coming months.
Earlier this year, I shared that we are working with new architects on our long-awaited Building Project. As many of you know, this has been a complex and lengthy process. I have requested that the COLA (Covered Outdoor Learning Area) be included in Stage 1 of the works, with funds raised through Supporting St Peter’s contributing to this structure. The architects are currently finalising draft plans and will begin meeting with me fortnightly. I will share updates as soon as tangible progress is made. Thank you for your continued patience and support as this important planning continues.
Finally, the Principal position has been readvertised. In the meantime, our staff and I remain fully committed to giving our best to our wonderful school community and will inform you promptly when there is news to share.
