SPRINGFIELD PLATTEVIEW COMMUNITY SCHOOLS 24-25
Dear Springfield Platteview Community Schools Families,
As we approach the end of the semester and look ahead to winter break, it’s hard to believe how quickly the year has flown by. The excitement among our students is palpable, and I want to take a moment to reflect on our accomplishments and the many exciting things yet to come.
I am thrilled to announce that for the second year in a row, our district has been classified as an “Excellent” school district by the Nebraska Department of Education. This prestigious recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our educators, students, and families. Please join me in thanking an educator today—they truly make a difference in our community.
This time of year is always filled with activity. At Platteview High School, our One Act team earned second place at the Trailblazer Conference, and our Esports team has excelled at the state level. Winter sports are now underway, and we’re gearing up for the Winter Concert this Thursday, which promises to be a wonderful event. At Westmont Elementary, students participated in a hands-on Science at the Sphere exhibit at Metropolitan Community College, learning about animal migration in an immersive way. At Springfield Elementary, the Turkey Bingo tradition was a huge success, with 10 turkeys and several pies given away to families. Our Springfield Platteview Community Choir also spread holiday cheer at local venues.
As we wrap up the semester, I want to extend my deepest gratitude to our entire school community. I’m incredibly proud of all that we’ve achieved together this year, and I look forward to all that we will accomplish in the months ahead. Wishing you a joyful and restful holiday season!
Warm Regards,
Ryan Saunders, Ed.D.

Karla Stolzer, Paraprofessional - DLC, Platteview High School
We are excited to share that Karla has been honored as the SPCS Good Vibes Employee of the Month! Below are a few comments from her nominations. Join us in celebrating Karla for this well-deserved recognition and her outstanding contributions to our school and community!
"Karla’s dedication and tireless work ethic make her an invaluable part of the PHS team. In a time when we're short-handed, Karla’s presence is absolutely essential to ensuring our students receive the support they need. She goes above and beyond, not only in her work with students but by volunteering at nearly every home event we host. Her calm demeanor and natural ability to connect with both students and staff create a positive, welcoming atmosphere in our school. Karla’s support extends beyond the classroom—she’s always ready to lend a hand wherever it's needed, whether that’s assisting with events or helping our community. Her commitment to the kids is especially remarkable, as she helps them thrive and encourages them to reach their full potential every day. Karla truly is a blessing to our school, and we are grateful for all she does. We couldn’t imagine PHS without her—she is a one-of-a-kind team member, and we are lucky to have her!"
WE APPRECIATE YOU!
Also, a heartfelt thank you to our Good Vibes Community Sponsor for their generous donation to our Employee of the Month program. Your support means so much, and we truly appreciate you being there to congratulate our winner! Rick, we are especially grateful for your long-standing commitment to SPCS and your continued involvement as a valued community member—now with grandchildren in the district. Your kindness and dedication make a lasting impact, and we can’t thank you enough!
We are proud to announce that our district continues to excel in student achievement! The upcoming annual report will highlight impressive growth across the board, showcasing our students’ hard work and dedication. For the second year in a row, we have earned an Excellent rating from the Nebraska Department of Education (NDE), a true testament to the outstanding efforts of our educators and the remarkable success of our students. These achievements reflect not only the commitment of our staff but also the incredible perseverance and potential of our students. We look forward to celebrating these successes and continuing to build on this momentum in the years ahead!
As we close out the year, the district would like to extend a heartfelt thank you and goodbye to two dedicated members of our Board of Education, Lisa Roseland and Adam Larson. Lisa has served for eight years, volunteering countless hours to support our schools and community. Adam stepped in to complete the term of Brian Wichman, who moved out of state, and we’re grateful for his commitment during his time on the board. While they will no longer serve on the board, both will remain valued members of our community—once a Trojan, always a Trojan! We also look forward to welcoming our newly elected board members, Brett Kreifels and Michael Patera, at the Board of Education meeting on January 13.
Thank you, Lisa and Adam, for your service and dedication to our students and schools!
It’s hard to believe, but even though it’s only December, graduation will be here before you know it! The final months of high school go by quickly, so now is the time to start planning for what comes next. Whether you're heading to college, entering the workforce, or exploring other opportunities, it’s important to stay focused and organized. Be sure to take advantage of scholarship opportunities and get a head start on your next steps. Graduation can feel overwhelming, but remember, we’re here to help you every step of the way! Enjoy the moment, but plan ahead—your future is waiting!
We are currently refining and collaborating on our specific Strategic Goals, which were established at the beginning of the school year. These goals are guided by the 5 Standards of Success: School Culture, Curriculum/Extracurricular, Teacher Effectiveness, Stakeholder Involvement, and Leadership/Operations. Our strategic plan, developed through the AQuESTT framework, focuses on continuous improvement and ensures we are meeting the needs of all students. Key areas of focus include planning for growth in facilities, staffing, and systems, implementing a comprehensive safety plan to secure our stakeholders, and enhancing our Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) to ensure academic, career, and behavioral success for all students. Through these efforts, we are committed to fostering an environment of quality education, collaboration, and continuous progress. Learn more in our 23-24 Annual Report, which will be released soon on the district website.
If you see something concerning—whether it's related to behavior, threats, or harmful activities—please report it through our TIPS website. This platform allows you to anonymously share information about potential risks, such as threats, drugs, weapons, or signs of distress, to help prevent incidents before they escalate.
The TIPS platform is designed to ensure that your concerns are heard by the appropriate personnel, but it is not a substitute for direct contact with school administrators or law enforcement.
To report a concern, simply follow the link to the TIPS website. Together, we can make sure our schools and community remain safe.
Platteview sporting events can now be viewed on our HUDL Fan page. There is no cost to watch, and each sport has its schedule uploaded on the page. Our YouTube page will no longer be used to stream live sports. You can watch our 2024/25 action at the link below.
Regular school attendance is crucial for student success, and it's part of a nationwide campaign to ensure every student has the opportunity to thrive. Missing school, even for a day or two, can have a significant impact on learning and academic progress. We encourage families to prioritize consistent attendance and remind students that every day counts. If your child is facing challenges that affect their attendance, please reach out to us—we’re here to help. Together, we can support our students and keep them on the path to success!
We’re excited to re-introduce our campaign to showcase the expansive reach of Springfield Platteview Community Schools! This campaign highlights our district’s impressive size and can be followed with the hashtag #SPCSGoesFar. Covering approximately 90 square miles, SPCS serves a diverse community from areas near Highway 75 to almost 204th Street (Hwy 6) and even north of Highway 370. Simply put, Springfield Platteview School District truly goes far! Stay tuned and join us in celebrating our wide-reaching community!
