D.E.A.R. stands for "Drop Everything and Read," a national celebration of reading that takes place every year on April 12 designed to remind families to make reading a priority in their lives. Today is the 103rd anniversary of beloved children's author, Beverly Cleary's birth and drawing on the inspiration from her character, Ramona Quimby several readers began commemorating her birth with a focus on families reading together. Literacy coach, Heather Register and STEAM coordinator, Ashley Blackwelder collaborated together to make this year's D.E.A.R. Day extra special with a smore newsletter designed to help parents support students' reading as well as a school bookstore.
