Each morning from 8:10 to 8:40 AM, I am in our school's TV studio and the lead advisor who runs the production of Colt Vision, our school's morning announcements. I am one of 4 teachers who help organize the announcements going out each morning. I help coordinate the students who are on each morning as anchors, have been an anchor from time to time when we needed a fill in, help with livestreaming, the audio and video technicality behind the production, and communications with teachers and admin who want to put out announcements each morning. This is a role I've been in for the past 6 years and continue to take part in. Our goal in the TV studio is to not only inform the student body of important events and information, but advise a small group of 8th graders who have signed up to be part of the production team.
This year was my second year that I was a member of the Safety Committee, as a representative of our Exploratory Team (Art, Foreign Languages, Technology Education, Phys. Ed., Health, and Music). While on the Safety Committee, I took safety concerns and matters to our building's safety committee meetings, where we discussed the matters as a team and came up with solutions and the next necessary steps needed to take to benefit the safety of our students, staff, admin, and building. I met mostly virtual (Zoom) with our committee, which is made up of a representative from each grade level, as well as one member of admin.
Nighttime obligations differed for me this year, as I was much more heavily involved in many areas. This year, I picked up a new role as the individual who is in charge of operating the light and sound board in the auditorium during plays, concerts, and performances. I attended almost every evening show, where I usually ran the lights/sound and livestreamed each musical performance to YouTube. I also, attented the Faculty vs. Students Football game and assisted my middle school TSA Chapter in selling concessions to fund raise money, which would be used to help students attend our TSA State Competition. Lastly, I worked with Duane Bull on multiple occasions, setting up the live streaming equipment for streaming School Board Meetings in both the middle school and high school auditoriums.
