Hi there students, Mrs. Mews here with your Weekly Art Workshop. We are going to try our best to continue to learn and discover new Artists and Art Techniques through an online learning experience. Each video or assignment shared with you is a chance for you to express your creativity and exercise critical thinking skills as you problem solve to achieve a stellar at home masterpiece. If you do not have all the Art Mediums/Materials listed in each video to complete your at home Artwork please substitute with Art Materials that you do have access to...such as markers can be used instead of paints and crayons may be used in place of oil pastels. I will also include some substitute material suggestions as needed with each assignment. If you have questions at any time during your creative process please send an email to Mrs. Mews at the following address: jmews@soswolverines.org. You may also take photos of finished pieces, upload your images to your Google Drive or email and share them with me so I can check your progress and evaluate your creative techniques while offering feedback to each submitted assignment. Peter Max-NYC

Assignment 1 Painting Like Peter Max:

Please watch the youtube video pasted below by clicking the link or copy and pasting the web address into your browser and try your best to create a POP ART Style Sunset Solar System in the style of famous Artist Peter Max.

- Please follow only the portions of the video that apply to you and your current at home Art Studio.
- Please watch the Google Slides created by Mrs. Mews.
- You may omit all paints and use only Sharpie and brightly colored markers or crayons to create your Max Solar System.
- You may also choose to create a NYC Peter Max inspired city instead of a solar system as indicated in Mrs. Mews' Google Slides...Please choose either one or the other don't combine the assignments.

Assignment 2 Expanding Our Op Art Knowledge:

Assignment 3

Abstract Portraits Like Sandra Silberzweig

- Watch Video 1 for history on the artist and the beginning drawing steps.
- Watch Video 2 for coloring techniques.
- You may omit chalks and use crayon or oil pastels to create your Abstract Portrait.

Assignment 4

Folk Art "Still Life" Like Kerri Ambrosino

Please watch the youtube video pasted below by clicking the link or copy and pasting the web address into your browser and try your best to create a Folk Art Style Still Life in the style of famous Artist Kerri Ambrosino.

- Please follow only the portions of the video that apply to you and your current at home Art Studio.
- Skip all steps that indication storing items in envelops...and collaboration with other artits.
- You may use CARDBOARD as your backing and glue down colored construction paper over the board this will give your work a good solid base. If you DO NOT have cardboard then you may just glue your designs onto contrustion paper.
- Cut your board/paper to 5x7in workspace.
- If you DO NOT have POPSICLE STICKS you may just skip this step and draw designs/patterns on the bottom of your paper to serve as your table.
- If you DO NOT have colored construction paper at home you may skip the collage (or gluing of different paper shapes) onto your paper and simply draw your Folk Art Vase Design onto your paper with Markers, Crayons, or Colored Pencils.

Assignment 5

3-D Conversation Hearts

- Please follow only the portions of the video that apply to you and your current at home Art Studio.
- If you DO NOT have Oil Pastels you may add color using Crayon for the hearts and marker for the "message." You may blend your oils with a tissue you do not need to add the smoothing agent.
- You DO NOT have to use the PENCIL TRANSFER Method to write your message on your heart...feel free to just write or free hand your message directly onto the heart.
- Below are a few images of Conversation Hearts...check out these images for color and message inspiration.

Assignment 6

Creating Peacocks Like Artist Olga Shvartsur

Olga Shvartsur is a self-taught artist who has been drawing portraits of people and animals ever since she was a young girl. She worked mostly with graphite pencil until five years ago when she experimented with watercolors and fell in love. Today she creates colorful, fun portraits inspired by both nature and pop-culture.

- ***Pro Tip...I would draw your Peacock elements with pencil first then start tracing line with marker.
- You may use colored pencils, crayons, oil pastels, or markers to add color to your Peacock its totally your choice!
