The SOP Inside technology of the Resonant for Wine products have resulted in:
Restoration of soil fertility and activation of root growth;
Reduction in water and heat stress and easier plant recovery;
Improvement of grape quality;
More effective release and absorption of nutrients;
Greater uniformity in the lignification of shoots and the accumulation of reserve substances.
SOP's research team has used several measurement techniques to determine how our products can reduce plant water stress, especially during early season growth and late season maturation, when water stress becomes particularly detrimental to fruit yield and quality.
By activating the microbial symbioses and facilitating the production of new roots, our products have proven to be fundamental in rendering the vine far more resilient to water stress.
Over the last few years, we have worked with our viticulturist partners and accredited scientists to research the efficacy of our products. Our trials have been conducted in multiple growing regions in California and Italy, on numerous different soil types with different combinations of rootstocks and grapevine varieties.
Our findings have consistently demonstrated that, even in the first year of application, vineyards treated with the our products show an increased tolerance to water stress when compared to control vineyards.
In our many trials, treated vines and control vines were monitored using Midday Leaf Water Potential measurements (LWP) throughout the summer season using a Scholander Chamber. Under identical conditions (irrigation schedule, soil type, etc.), an average 20% reduction in water stress was measured in the treated vines compared to the untreated ones.
During heatwaves, our research team took measurements with a FLIR thermal imaging camera. They found a statistically significant difference in canopy temperatures, with the treated vines remaining an average of 3° to 5°F cooler than the control vines.
Thanks to the SOP Inside technology, the Resonant for Wine products have been proven to reduce water stress, leading to:
More successful fruit set
Preservation of average cluster weight
Less cluster sunburn
Less leaf loss
More desirable acidity and pH levels
Increase in YAN content
More stable color in finished wine
Three universities — Padova, Milano, and UC Davis (California) — have studied the effects of Resonant Fortify White - SOP Inside on two commercial Chardonnay vineyards in northern Italy.
The treated vines exhibited increased vigor, with longer shoots and a reduced number of blind buds. This led to higher yields without any compromise in grape quality.
Despite their greater vigor, the vines also demonstrated enhanced resistance to both water and thermal stress, indicating improved efficiency in water and nutrient absorption.
This improved nutrient uptake was further confirmed by a higher YAN (Yeast Assimilable Nitrogen) level in the must, exceeding the minimum desired threshold of 40 mg/L required for stable fermentation.
The Resonant for Wine products have proven to be practical and applicable tools for enhancing vineyard resilience, helping vines adapt to the growing challenges posed by climate change.
