All grades have workshops/presentations and classroom sessions with Academic Advisors in February and early March.
Students will have individual sessions with their Academic Advisor (all students have been invited to make an appointment).
Parents can view their child’s course selections via the Parent Portal , http://www.smus.ca/parentportal
Students will make initial course pre-selections on SDS before March 14 (i.e., Spring Break).
Follow your interests and build on strengths.
Consider what is a reasonable and manageable load, not just what fits in your timetable.
Know the requirements you need to meet, both for graduation and university admission.
Ask questions and gather information before making a decision.
Talk to your subject area teachers: they know you and your skills best and can recommend the right level of challenge for you in the next grade level.
Enjoy each year for its own opportunities.
Consider continuing with a second language: in addition to be beneficial for your learning, many US universities prefer to see students with a modern language course up to the Grade 11 level
Grade 12 level and AP courses (taken in any grade) are considered in the admission process.
We encourage students to earn credit in at least 6 Grade 12/AP courses, some of which they may take in their Grade 11 year.
