AP Capstone™ is a diploma program from the College Board. It’s based on two year-long AP courses: AP Seminar and AP Research.
Rather than teaching subject-specific content, these courses develop students’ skills in research, analysis, evidence-based arguments, collaboration, writing, and presenting. Students who complete the two-year program can earn one of two different AP Capstone awards, which are valued by colleges across the United States and around the world.
Students must take AP Seminar and Research, along with 4 additional AP courses and exams. Students must also achieve at 3 or above in each exam in order to earn the diploma.
Essentially, it is a skills-based course, where students learn to critically evaluate information. Core skills include QUEST: Question and explore, Understand and analyze arguments, Evaluate multiple perspectives, Synthesize ideas, and team, Transform and transmit.
These are essential skills for university and beyond.
