Hi, 

I'm Lee, and I run SMT Outdoors. I love living and working in the outdoors and I want to pass on the knowledge, skills and connection with nature that a lifetime of adventure has given me. And, of course, to invite you to share the fun and amazing memories of new adventures as well!

Based in Ramsbottom in Lancashire, but operating nationwide, I'm a qualified Mountain Leader with many years experience of designing and running outdoor skills training programmes including climbing, hill walking, mountaineering, navigation, caving, canoeing and canyoning. I have expertise in management and leadership development using experiential techniques. I also have extensive experience of Environmental Education and work with young people with behavioural and additional education needs.

I have set up and managed outdoor centres, including for inner-city youth at risk, designing and delivering high challenge activities in creative ways and holding AALA accreditation. 

I also have a Masters Degree in Business (MBA) and have delivered outdoor personal development training for blue chip organisations including GEC (at the time the largest ever outdoor personal development challenge event), Bass, The Japan Railways Group, KPMG and Universities including Manchester Business School and Notts Trent University. I also deliver strategic facilitation and targeted change and leadership programmes for managers at all levels including board & CEO.

I am a full member of the Mountain Training Association, the British Mountaineering Council and the Institute for Outdoor Learning amongst others. 

I am a qualified trainer and assessor and am also a first aid trainer, teaching outdoor first aid for instructors and outdoor enthusiasts as well as first aid at work and food safety.

I teach bush-craft and survival skills, and enjoy travelling ultra-light, using skills and knowledge mostly forgotten today.

I have a wealth of experience of sports, traditional, winter and alpine climbing and also cave and canoe as both an enthusiast and as an instructor.

Woof!

I'm Nevis and although I'm still only a puppy, I'm training hard to be an outdoor activity instructor too. I have done a couple of mountains in the Lakes and North Wales and am raring to go. I am still a little excitable, so I can't go on every adventure. But if you are happy to have me along I can bring happy woofs, licks and tickles to any day out!
