In Memory of Anne Marie Ternullo

Dear SMSJ School Family,

The loss of our beloved teacher and friend, Anne Marie Ternullo was a shock to us all. Her presence in the halls of our school will be missed for years to come.

Anne Marie taught at St. Mary - St. Joseph School for 22 years and was very devoted to her students. She always made a point to find students’ strong points and encourage them to do what they were good at to help them succeed. She was a very good listener. Her students trusted her and knew that she would listen when they needed to talk.

Anne Marie was a student of the original St. Joseph School and graduated 8th grade within a couple of years of the school merging with St. Mary's to form St. Mary - St. Joseph School.

She was very proud of her family, especially her two grandsons, Noah & Niko. She would make a point to greet Noah as he came into school each morning and would often add treats to his lunchbox.

Anne Marie was a woman who lived her faith. She had a gift of noticing when someone needed a kind word, a good deed or a little extra pick me up.

In a staff meeting earlier this week, we shared a few memories of her, such as the way she disliked having her picture taken and how she fought upgrading from her flip phone to a smartphone. She had beautiful handwriting, loved chocolate, Fritos and salted caramel candy. She used to joke that she was the only Italian born that was allergic to tomatoes. She loved to watch the Home Shopping Network and QVC.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary - St. Joseph School, a place that was near and dear to her heart. Donations may be mailed to 35 Valley Street, Willimantic, CT 06226. Please indicate that your donation is in memory of Anne Marie Ternullo.

La pérdida de nuestra querida maestra y amiga, Anne Marie Ternullo, fue un shock para todos nosotros. Su presencia en los pasillos de nuestra escuela será extrañada en los años que vienen.

Anne Marie enseñó en la escuela St. Mary - St. Joseph durante 22 años y fue muy dedicada a sus alumnos. En una reunión de personal a principios de esta semana, compartimos algunos recuerdos de ella, como la forma en que no le gustaba que le tomaran una foto y cómo luchó para actualizar su teléfono móvil a un teléfono inteligente. Tenía una hermosa letra, amaba el chocolate, los fritos y el caramelo salado. Solía bromear diciendo que era la única italiana nacida que era alérgica a los tomates. Le encantaba ver Home Shopping Network y QVC.
