KATA SAMBUNG

Kata sambung dalam bahasa Inggris disebut "conjunctions." Conjunctions digunakan untuk menghubungkan kata, frasa, klausa, atau kalimat. Ada tiga jenis utama conjunctions:

1. Coordinating Conjunctions (Kata Sambung Koordinatif):

   • Menghubungkan dua klausa yang setara. Contoh:

     • And (dan)

     • But (tetapi)

     • Or (atau)

     • Nor (juga tidak)

     • For (karena)

     • Yet (namun)

     • So (jadi)

2. Subordinating Conjunctions (Kata Sambung Subordinatif):

   • Menghubungkan klausa independen dengan klausa dependen. Contoh:

     • Because (karena)

     • Although (meskipun)

     • Since (sejak, karena)

     • If (jika)

     • While (sementara)

     • Though (meskipun)

     • Unless (kecuali)

3. Correlative Conjunctions (Kata Sambung Korelatif):

   • Digunakan dalam pasangan untuk menghubungkan dua elemen yang setara. Contoh:

     • Either...or (entah...atau)

     • Neither...nor (tidak...juga tidak)

     • Both...and (baik...dan)

     • Not only...but also (tidak hanya...tetapi juga)

1. Coordinating Conjunctions (Kata Sambung Koordinatif)

• And: She likes to read books, and she enjoys writing stories.

• But: He wanted to go to the party, but he had to finish his homework first.

• Or: You can have tea, or you can have coffee.

• Nor: She doesn’t like spinach, nor does she like broccoli.

• For: I went to bed early, for I was very tired.

• Yet: He is a great player, yet he never wins any tournaments.

• So: It was raining heavily, so we decided to stay indoors.

2. Subordinating Conjunctions (Kata Sambung Subordinatif)

• Because: She stayed home because she wasn’t feeling well.

• Although: Although he studied hard, he didn’t pass the exam.

• Since: Since we moved to this city, we’ve made many new friends.

• If: If you finish your work early, we can go to the park.

• While: She listened to music while she was cooking dinner.

• Though: Though it was cold outside, they went for a walk.

• Unless: You won’t succeed unless you put in the effort.

3. Correlative Conjunctions (Kata Sambung Korelatif)

• Either...or: You can either stay at home or come with us to the movies.

• Neither...nor: Neither the teacher nor the students were happy with the new schedule.

• Both...and: She is both intelligent and hardworking.

• Not only...but also: He is not only a good musician, but also a talented artist.
