PE House Sport Cup

At Smithdon High School, all students have been placed into Sports Houses in which they compete in different inter-house sporting competitions at the end of each term. Houses are awarded points for their finishing position which count towards the House Sport cup, which culminates with Sports Day in the summer term.

The houses were introduced at the start of the 2019/20 academic year and the names of the houses were chosen by the School's Sports Council. The council chose to go with British Sporting heroes as a theme and the chosen athletes are below:

Farrah House

The most successful British track athlete in modern Olympic Games history, he is the 2012 and 2016 Olympic gold medalist in both the 5000 m and 10,000 m. Farah is the second athlete in modern Olympic Games history, to win both the 5000 m and 10,000 m titles at successive Olympic Games. He also completed the 'distance double' at the 2013 and 2015 World Championships in Athletics. Farah is the most decorated athlete in British athletics history, with ten global titles.

Ennis-Hill House

As a competitor in heptathlon, she is the 2012 Olympic champion, 2016 Olympic Silver medalist a three-time world champion (2009, 2011, 2015), and the 2010 European champion.[3][4] She is also the 2010 world indoor pentathlon champion. A member of the City of Sheffield & Dearne athletic club, she is a former British national record holder for the heptathlon. She is a former British record holder in the 100 metres hurdles, the high jump and the indoor pentathlon.

Moore House

Moore was made captain of England in 1964, at age 23, going on to lift the World Cup trophy in 1966. He won a total of 108 caps for his country, which at the time of his international retirement in 1973 was a national record. Receiving the BBC Sports Personality of the Year in 1966, he was the first footballer to win the award and he remained the only one for a further 24 years. Moore was given an OBE in the New Year Honours List.

Redgrave House

A British rower who won gold medals at five consecutive Olympic Games from 1984 to 2000. He has also won three Commonwealth Games gold medals and nine World Rowing Championships golds. He is the most successful male rower in Olympic history, and the only man to have won gold medals at five Olympic Games in an endurance sport.
