Induction Seminar   January 4, 2023

This event will be held in person from 5:00-7:00 PM at the Dr. James A. Forrest Career and Technology Center.  All details of the seminar session and resources will be updated on this page before and after the seminar.

Session Details

All sessions will take place in person only and details can be found in the Sessions Sheet located in the folder at the bottom of the page. 

Additional details will be added closer to the seminar date.

Opening Session - We will meet in the Dohrman Rooms for a session focusing on student engagement.

Choice Sessions - Several sessions will repeat from December and some new sessions will be included.

Conditional Seminar - January 11, 2023

The conditional seminar next week, Janaury 11, 2023,  will focus on student engagement.  NDMU's spring semester course beginning in January will be Human Development and Learning (Section number to be available soon) with in-person meeting dates of January 23, 2023, February 8, 2023, and March 8, 2023. Representatives from NDMU and UMGC will be present to meet with teachers.

FAQ About the in-person seminars

What is served at dinner?

Each month, we will offer a different dinner selection.

Do I need to bring anything with me to seminars?

YES! All seminar participants are asked to bring their SMCPS-issued device to all in-person seminars. Accessing materials in sessions may be required.

Do I need to prepare anything before attending the seminar?

There are no Schoology tasks for discussions before each seminar. There are reflective discussions in Schoology after each seminar to review what was learned and how it was used.

Are the in-person sessions also available virtually?

No, the in-person sessions are not recorded or streamed virtually. Sessions are offered by live presenters.

Location: The Forrest Center is located in Leonardtown between Leonardtown High School and Leonardtown Middle on Point Lookout Road. Google Map HERE

Parking: Seminar participants are encouraged to park in the front of the building or in the lot to the right of the building next to Leonardtown Middle School. Parking directly in front of the building may be limited.

Entrance/Exit: Seminar participants will be expected to enter the building through the Dohrman Room Entrance located on the north (right) side of the building. There are signs at most of the other entrances to indicate your entrance. Please see the map below. The atrium entrance will NOT be open.

TPAS Domain Rubrics

Each seminar will focus on various components within the Teacher Performance Assessment System (TPAS) rubrics. Classroom observations will generally focus on Domains 1-3 and your SLO will focus on Domain 5. Domain 4 is an evaluation of your all-around professional responsibilities.
