The end of the school year does not mean a halt to training for Great Mills Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC). The four-peat Distinguished Unit is laying the foundation for future success by putting its top cadets through challenging courses to better their leadership skills. For all of these events, the philosophy is simple: It’s not about you. It’s about taking the lessons and skills you learned and bringing them back to the unit to make the unit better.
This summer Great Mills NJROTC sent:
3 cadets to NJROTC Leadership Academy in Virginia, plus a graduate assistant returning as an aide
1 cadet to NJROTC Sail Academy in Virginia
4 cadets to Joint Cadet Leadership Course (JCLC) at Virginia Military Institute
4 cadets to ALA Maryland Girls State at Salisbury University
2 cadets to American Legion Boys State at McDaniel College
1 cadet to Basic and 2 cadets to Advanced Cyber Camp at Gannon University
These training opportunities reflect the commitment of cadet leaders. They willingly give up some of their summer break to make the unit better. This process of continuous improvement sets the stage for future success, building better citizens and the next generation of leaders.
