Small Group Counseling

Small group counseling is offered to students who need support and/or skills achieveing success in school.  Groups are formed through analysis of academic and social data as well as through family or teacher referrals.  Please contact the school counselor, Alison Sayers, to inquire about current and possible small groups.

To participate in groups, the school counselor must have parent/guardian permission.

Pri Confidence Small Group Sessions

2nd Grade Girls - Confidence Group (In-progress)

In this group, students will explore ways to build their confidence, cope with setbacks and challenge negative thinking. 

K Monster Feelings Small Group Sessions

Kindergarten - Monster Feelings (In-progress)

In this group, students will learn about their feelings and how to regulate uncomfortable feelings. The monster theme is not just cute, but it's to help students recognize that feelings are like visitors that come and go - they are temporary.  Students will learn healthy and helpful ways to express and take care of all types of feelings.

Int Art of Friendship Group

3rd/4th - The Art of Friendship (In-progress)

In this group, students will learn skills and strategies for making, keeping and navigating friendships. Through art, games and discussion we will practice these concepts. 

Pri Coping Skills Small Group Sessions

1st/2nd - Coping Skills Group (In-progress)

In this group, students will explore feelings and strategies for coping that will help to bring calm to their bodies. We will also give space for talking about triggers for uncomfortable feelings as well as experiences and events that have happened in students' lives. 

Boys Resiliency Small Group Sessions

3rd/4th - Resiliency Group (In-progress)

In this group, students explore and discover the origin of thoughts and feelings that can come from tough situations. We learn and practice strategies that can help students become resilient and able to meet any challenges that arise. 

SY24 Worry Small Group Sessions

3rd/4th - Managing Worries Small Group (Completed)

In this group students explore and learn about where worries come from and then how to effectively use coping skills to mange thoughts and feelings associated with their worries. 

SY24 School Success Champs Small Group

3rd/4th - Boys Group - School Success Skills (Completed)

In this group students explore and learn about executive functioning skills that can help to ensure success at school.
