Classroom counseling lessons will follow ASCA National Standards, SMCPS requirements, and CPCS's CRABS Virtues and Executive Functioning Skills. Lessons are data-driven and provided to all students with follow-up support as needed.
Lesson slide decks and resources will be posted when as they are taught.
January Focus: Compassion - "I respect the lives and space of others and I expect the same in return."
3rd & 4th
Students learned how to look at situations from others' perspectives and how doing this can prevent unnecessary conflict by respecting each other's experiences and viewpoints.
5th
Students learned how to look at situations from others' perspectives and how doing this can prevent unnecessary conflict by respecting each other's experiences and viewpoints. In fifth grade, student reported data was included in the classroom discussions.
December Focus: Self-Discipline - "I can calm and check-in with myself to find what I need and want."
3rd & 4th SMCPS Required Lesson: Gizmo!
CPCS and other elementary schools received books for each 3rd and 4th grade student so that they can continue to review and practice coping skills taught during the Gizmo's Pawsome Mental Health lesson. All students permitted to participate, due to parents/guardians not opting-out, learned about mental health and what do do when mental health needs support.
