Makerspaces are popping up in schools around San Mateo County. Below we feature two districts that have actively developed Makerspaces for students at all their school sites.
To support the growth and development of making in San Mateo County schools, we'll be launching a Makerspace Map this fall, where any San Mateo County district or school can list their Makerspaces and connect with other educators around making and learning.
PVSD opened Makerspaces at both the Ormondale and Corte Madera campuses in Fall 2015.
The Corte Madera Makerspace has a blog. Check it out!
The Ormondale Makerspace opening featured a presentation by renowned educator, engineer, author and maker Sylvia Martinez, co-author of Invent to Learn, a guide to "Making, Tinkering and Engineering in the Classroom."
Principal Kevin Keegan led the ribbon cutting to open the Ormondale Makerspace.
Robert Pronovost and his team in the Ravenswood Elementary School District have been working for years to build out makerspaces for learning at each RCSD school site.
