Food is more than something we eat because it tells the story of who we are and where we come from. In the Middle East, every dish carries centuries of history shaped by geography, religion, trade, and migration. From the spice markets of Arabia to the farms and valleys of the Levant, Middle Eastern cuisine brings together ancient traditions and influences from around the world.
In the Middle East, three dishes that capture the heart of the region’s culture are falafel, hummus, and kabsa. Each one reflects important traditions like hospitality, faith, and community. These foods also help tell the story of how religion shapes what people eat, how trade routes spread ingredients, and how globalization continues to share these dishes everywhere today.
Today, Middle Eastern cuisine is enjoyed worldwide. You can find falafel stands, kabsa restaurants, and tubs of hummus in almost every grocery store. This shows how food connects people from different cultures and helps us appreciate the world we all share.
