Thinking about Applying to Psychology Graduate Programs?

Both the APA (https://www.apa.org/ed/precollege/psn/2014/09/psychology-majors) and APS websites include information that many applicants find helpful. The APA website also includes a listing of accredited graduate programs. Additional information can be found at the APA Career Guide resource site.

What are the acceptance rates to graduate programs in Psychology? It is good for students to gain insight into how competitive graduate school admission can be by examining program admission rates. For instance, according to the 2018 APA report (link below), the median acceptance rate for Clinical Psychology doctoral programs is well below 10%. Preparing and Applying for Psychology Graduate Schools

What do you need to have for your applications? The American Psychological Association has great information on what applicants should know and do during the application process for graduate studies in psychology.

Another highly recommended resource is this Kisses of Death article by Appleby and Appleby (2006) to avoid making harmful mistakes when preparing your application materials.

  6. Letters of Recommendation (typical number applicants need is 3)
