Information on Driver's License
Driver's License
Before driving in the U.S, make sure that you have a valid U.S driver's license. You will have to pass a few tests before receiving your U.S driver's license, so you may be interested in taking a few driver's education classes. For this, you will need a learner's permit.
For more information on how to obtain a driver's license and the paperwork required from international faculty and staff, please visit the Missouri Department of Revenue's Driver Licensing page.
Just so you know...
The Missouri Driver Guide has all the information you will need to study before taking the test. Some traffic rules vary from state to state so even if you already have a U.S driver's license, you may want to skim over the Missouri guide. The Missouri test has four parts:
Written test on information contained in the Missouri Driver Guide
Vision test
Knowledge of road signs test
Practical driving test (you must show proof of car insurance before taking this test)
You cannot obtain an international driver's license once you are in the U.S, be wary of any online ads that tell you that you can!
If you have a license or ID from another state, you should change your license/state ID as soon as possible.
You cannot get a lawful driver's license in the U.S if your visa is expired.
