How to Succeed Academically

Academic Support Resources for Fall 2020

Tutoring

    • Will continue:

      • To be conducted primarily one-on-one with SLU peer tutors

      • To be offered for over 70 undergraduate classes

        • A list of classes with tutoring is posted each semester on the Academic Support website.

      • To be scheduled through EAB Navigate

    • Updates for Fall 2020:

      • Tutoring appointments will be held primarily online through Zoom.

Supplemental Instruction (SI)

    • Will continue:

      • To be conducted by an SI leader, who attends the class and constructs small group sessions based on that week’s content

      • To be offered for larger, lecture-style classes

      • To be held three times per course section each week

      • To not need an appointment

    • Updates for Fall 2020:

      • All SI sessions will be held online through Zoom.

      • If your class offers SI, your professor will share your SI leader’s name as well as Zoom links for the sessions.

University Writing Services

    • Will continue:

      • To provide individualized feedback on writing, oral presentations, or multimedia projects for any class

      • To assist with any stage of the writing process

    • Updates for Fall 2020:

      • Writing Services will provide feedback via Zoom video conferences or online (asynchronous) consultations

      • For either type of consultation, you’ll need to schedule through EAB Navigate.

Student Success Coaching

    • Will continue:

      • To provide a nonjudgmental, supportive space

      • To help you identify challenges and feel empowered to reach your unique goals

      • To assist with challenges both in and out of the classroom

      • To be scheduled through EAB Navigate in mySLU tools.

    • Updates for Fall 2020:

      • Coaching appointments will be held primarily online through Zoom.

      • Can assist with challenges specific to Fall 2020, including strategies for hybrid learning

Testing for Students with Disabilities

Students with a documented disability who wish to request academic accommodations must contact Disability Services to discuss accommodation requests and eligibility requirements.

Please contact Disability Services at disability_services@slu.edu or 314-977-3484 to schedule an appointment. Disability Services and your professor will work closely with you to implement appropriate testing accommodations.
