BATCH ARCENAUX CLASS OF 2020-2021
Our journey has been a profound learning experience, marked by both happiness and failures. The global pandemic tested our resilience, adaptability, and, most importantly, our leadership. We write this legacy statement to reflect honestly on our experiences, recognizing that failure can be a powerful teacher.
During the pandemic, we faced obstacles that disrupted our traditional scouting activities. Our organization struggled to adapt to the sudden shift to virtual meetings and the need for innovative service projects. It quickly became apparent that our leadership was not fully prepared for the demands of this new reality. We encountered difficulties in maintaining engagement and participation. Communication breakdowns and inconsistent planning led to a sense of disconnection among our members. Our attempts to organize virtual activities often fell short, resulting in frustration and a lack of enthusiasm. These shortcomings highlighted areas where our leadership needed growth and improvement. Through these experiences, we grew as individuals and as an organization. Our failures were not setbacks but opportunities for growth and improvement. We learned that true leadership is not about always getting it right but about learning from mistakes, being open to feedback, and continuously striving to do better.
To ensure that future scouts benefit from our experiences and continue to grow, we initiated a legacy project, together with the support and guidance from the former batches, aimed at enhancing the resources available to our organization. We have purchased a variety of materials, tools, and small equipment that will support scouting activities for years to come. This includes a First Aid Trauma Kit, an Emergency Kit, and 3 pairs of Two Way Walkie Talkie Radios.
Our journey has been defined by overcoming adversity with determination. As we move forward, we leave behind a legacy of passion and growth. We challenge future scouts to embrace each obstacle as an opportunity, to lead with authenticity, and to always strive for excellence in everything they do.
