“This is a wonderful day. I have never seen this one before.”
-Maya Angelou
Good Evening Team and Family –
*Exhales*...Wow, day # 3 was calming, smooth, and just as every bit exciting as the first two days. I will start off by acknowledging the true marvel that is our ability to be so impressive in our ability to execute at such a high level, while also leaving room for improvement. Classes were lively, teachers looked and sounded confident, and students were hanging on to our every word. At times technology was not so reliable, but we continued to move forward. It was so reassuring to see this, and only confirms the fact that Lyceum is well on its way to becoming a major player in SPS.
As always, thank you for your open and honest feedback in our “broken windows” meetings. These meetings have been the secret ingredient in our ability to improve at such a rapid rate. As we enter day #4, and close out week 1, please refer to the big rocks below:
Schedule – Just as a reminder, schedules have been updated (shout out to Ms. Bourdreau) and now include specific info in regards to when synchronous and asynchronous lessons will occur. Please make sure to look through the “cohort” folder in our “All Staff Remote Learning Materials” shared drive. In addition, starting on Monday, please begin incorporating pieces of the breakout schedule in order for students to learn these systems properly.
Google Classroom – Shout out to the entire staff for normalizing Google Classroom! This standardization is allowing students to navigate through the tools they need for class with relative ease. Thank you for your continued collaboration.
Systems & Procedures– We really have some innovative teachers at Lyceum Prep. Teachers are always adding on to our current systems and procedures by identifying ways to solve problems for our students-like teaching students how to add “pins” to the chat. Our inclusive and collaborative culture is what continues to shine through in allowing us to evolve as a school community. Keep the ideas coming, and thank you for your contributions!
Tomorrow, we will continue visiting more classrooms and providing support as needed. We look forward to seeing everyone. Also, directly after our “broken windows” meeting, we will be wrapping up the week with “shout outs and good news”. Please feel free to send me any feedback or thoughts regarding ways that we can best support you. Thank you for all of your efforts on day #3 – today felt good.
Next Steps & Things to Keep in Mind:

One more day to go before we cap off a historic week 1, and well-deserved weekend. As we continue to keep our eyes on the prize, remember to take some time for yourself. Friday is almost here-let’s finish the week strong. Day #4 here we come! #LEVEL-UP
