Acceleration
Acceleration may be considered for whole grade acceleration or subject acceleration based on an individual student's needs. The process below explains how a student may be considered for acceleration.
Acceleration Procedures for K-1
Parent or Teacher Referral for Grade Acceleration is made to Building ALP Team
Meeting with parent to review existing data if available (MAP, FastBridge, Classroom) and gain evaluation consent if recommended. (ALP Teacher(s), GenEd Teacher, CFC Content Admin, Building Admin, ALP Instructional Coach, and/ or Mental Health Team Member)
Current Teacher and Parent Renzulli Scales, Observation, and BESS completed
Student evaluated using IOWA Acceleration Scale as a guide.
Parent Meeting to review evaluation data and determine recommendation for acceleration.
Acceleration Procedures for Grades 2-8
Parent or Teacher Referral for Grade Acceleration is made to Building ALP Team
Meeting with parent to review existing data (MAP, FastBridge, Classroom) and gain evaluation consent if recommended. (ALP Teacher(s), GenEd Teacher, CFC Content Admin, Building Admin, ALP Instructional Coach, and/or Mental Health Team Member)
Student evaluated with the following:
retired PARCC of current grade level and grade accelerated to.
Renzulli if not already completed within 1 year.
BESS
Student evaluated using IOWA Acceleration Scale as a guide.
Parent Meeting to review evaluation data and determine recommendation for acceleration.
Acceleration Procedures for New Students (Not Currently Enrolled in D69)
Obtain Referral from Parent
Complete Registration and Proof of Residency
Initial Meeting with Building ALP Team and gain evaluation consent if recommended
Create a schedule and times for evaluation
Student evaluated with the following:
FastBridge (grades K/1)
NWEA MAP testing
retired PARCC of current grade level and grade accelerated to ( grade 2-8)
Renzulli Scales sent to current teacher
Student evaluated using IOWA Acceleration Scale as a guide
Parent Meeting to review evaluation data and determine a recommendation for acceleration
