The Jane-Finch Literacy Through Mentorship program seeks to provide locally-relevant literacy programming for middle school students in the Jane-Finch neighborhood through an afterschool program, facilitated through peer mentorship between high school (grades 9-12) and middle school (grades 6-8) students. Jane-Finch Literacy Through Mentorship will feature an innovative literacy curriculum, designed and delivered by community educators and literacy experts with the support of local secondary school students as mentors. The project aims to offer foundational literacy education support to students at the middle school level, in order to better each student’s long-term success in their educational pathways.
