Inquiry and Design Thinking

Inquiry-based learning involves students actively engaging in the learning process by asking questions, investigating and seeking answers, and constructing new knowledge through collaboration and reflection. The goal is to develop critical thinking skills and empower students to become lifelong learners. Teacher librarians play a critical role in facilitating and guiding the inquiry-based learning process, providing students with resources and support, and teaching them to vet their information sources. A student-centered approach to inquiry-based learning, such as Kath Murdoch's I-Time, is particularly well-suited to the digital age, in which information is abundant and constantly evolving. Students should develop the habit of asking critical questions about their information sources.
