Debreceni Református Kollégium Dóczy Gimnáziuma

Hungarian school situated in Debrecen

Our school – the Dóczy – is a religious secondary school run by the local protestant bishopric, in Debrecen, Hungary. It has a long tradition dating back to the 19th century. After the hardships of the 20th century the school could reopen in 2000 as an independent six-form secondary school offering education for kids from different background mainly from the city and its surroundings.

The strength of our school now lies in science subjects, mainly Physics and Maths, and the Lego Robot project is also growing and our students go to more and more competitions. Our strength lies in languages, too. Our students learn two foreign languages – which they can choose from English, German, French and Italian.

We are a middle sized school with about 420 students and 40 teachers. Thanks to this, we maintain a nice family atmosphere: the school is a bit like our „second home” – not only because we spend a lot of time there, but also because we all talk to each other and everybody knows everybody.
