These are the note for teachers for Y6 Scratch Session 1
Before the lesson you need to check that all children have a school Googles account. This can either be {username]@sjsapps.co.uk, for which you have a login and can add children and change passwords or [username]@shakespearejuniorschool.co.uk.
The teacher username it y6teacher@sjsapps.co.uk. Once in, you need to select ADMIN and then USERS to update passwords.
Download and print off the prompt card for the Bouncing Ball project.
LESSON START
Work from the first children's learning page of this unit.
Talk first about the children's previous experiences programming using scratch. Check that they know what algorithms are. You might even get some individuals to show some of the projects they are proud of from previous years.
Next go to the Session 1 Learning Page and watch the first video explaining the approaches. Check that the children understand these and that today we will be TINKERING.
Take through the next part -here the children check that they can find SCRATCH on line and just experiment with the tutorials. You could get them to share anything they have found out from their explorations.
Next they all explore the Bouncing Ball Tutorial and try to create a bounding ball.
